Yesterday, I was on Clement Street to meet a friend for lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant, Cafe Bunn Mi.
Once again, I indulged in my favorite, Banh Mi. I must admit to salivating just thinking of the thinly sliced grilled pork that is garnished with tons of shredded carrots, cilantro and pickled turnips. As I took my first bite of the toasted bun, which had a little pork with everything else; I thought about how lucky I was to enjoy this with my new friend who was blown away with her Five Spice Chicken sandwich as well.
After lunch we headed toward my go-to store, Mai Wah. I was dying to get a package of fresh Mochi with brown beans but to my disappointment, they were sold out... So I made a quick walk down a few aisles and stocked up on some packaged Kimchi noodles. Now before you get too judgmental, let me tell you that just having them in my cupboard means I can always have a bowl of hot noodles when I'm in the mood for it. I use very little of the salty seasoning packet and then I add some organic chicken broth, few frozen prawns or leftover chicken. Now I'm looking at a five-star bowl of noodles.
